Last Wish

We are introduced to Callie Manahan, who presently works at her father’s company and is getting antsy to strike out on her own. Also working there is Trent St. James, an ex-boyfriend of Callie’s and a real thorn in her side. She doesn’t want anything to do with Trent other than the projects her father seems to keep pairing them up on and even then they clash. Although Callie is trying to keep her distance from Trent, it seems like he’s trying his hardest to reignite the passion and spark that used to be between them.

I have to be really honest here and say this story just didn’t work for me for a few reasons. First, there wasn’t anything special that stood out to me about any of the characters that made me even want to get to know them while I was turning the pages. Second, I’m not sure if I’m just being overly critical, but the story’s pacing was extremely slow moving and because of it I couldn’t get into the storyline. I tried three different times and I still couldn’t get involved with it. I finally just skipped through the rest of it to see what happened. I’m not sure if this story just wasn’t a perfect fit for me or if this will be the general consensus of the readers, but overall I wasn’t a particular fan of this story.

Even though Callie Manahan and Trent St. James still work with each other, to Callie it seems the flame has extinguished itself in regards to their past relationship. She honestly wishes she didn’t have to work with Trent anymore, but it seems that her father keeps pairing them up for extensive projects together. Trent is thrilled to be given the opportunity to spend time with Callie, even if it is business related. He’ll do anything to reignite the flame that once burned between them and he’ll stop at nothing to achieve his goal of winning Callie back into his arms again. Callie, on the other hand, wants nothing to do with him. As a matter of fact, she’s propositioned by someone else in her life that she had no idea felt romantic feelings for her. Who is this other guy that’s interested in Callie? Does Callie start something with this mystery man or does Trent finally wear her down enough to take a second chance on love together?
