It Must Have Been the Mistletoe...

Blaze #579

This Christmas anthology contained three stories written by three different authors and are all wrapped around the three Cole sisters.

In When She Was Naughty by Kate Hoffman, Alison Cole, who’s a musical researcher, decides to head to the Blue Ridge Mountains in search of her longtime older singing idol, Ettie Lee Harper. When she finally finds Ettie’s cabin, the last thing she thinks she’ll stumble upon is someone that will curl her toes and make her heart skip a beat. But when she meets Ettie’s caretaker, Dr. Drew Phillips, they definitely start making their own music together. The question is can they make this a permanent thing or will the sweet music they’re making together eventually be lost like Ettie’s recorded songs?

Cole for Christmas by Rhonda Nelson, introduces us to Layla Cole and Bryant Bishop who are childhood pals and have run into each other again after years have passed. The chemistry between them is something spectacular, but all that Layla can think of right now is doing this brief gig that she’s hired for by playing her mandolin for country star Clint Walker. What doesn’t make this gig any easier is Bryant is Clint’s security detail so for the few nights that she’s playing for Clint, she’s seeing Bryant and longing for something to start between them. Ironically, he uses this opportunity to tell her that he’s had a lifelong crush on her and would really like to see if there is something between them. Does Layla decide to get involved with Bryant?

In the last story, A Babe in Toyland by Tawny Weber, Rita Mae Cole loses her waitressing job thanks to Tyler Ramsey, a guy who used to date one of her sisters years ago. With no job and no place to afford to stay, she has to make the trip back home to live with her parents. So she elects Tyler to be the one to drive her home as punishment for making her lose her job. Little does she know that sparks are going to be flying and the desire to sleep with each other is going to be extremely overwhelming the entire trip home together. Is it smart to be getting involved with someone who dated her sister back in high school? Could a relationship work out between these two?

I enjoyed reading this anthology and hoped that each one of the Cole sisters would get what their heart desired, no matter what the odds were in the end. I thought that the characters were fun to get to know and I enjoyed that the stories were wrapped around these three sisters. If you’re looking for a novel to get lost in for a few hours that’s hot and sexy, you’ve found the perfect one!
