Ms. Nicholas is the last author to finish the Promise Harbor Wedding series with her story Hitched. Book four tells us Allison Ralston’s side of the story and fills us in on why she allowed her ex-boyfriend, Gavin Montgomery, to literally sweep her off her feet and rescue her from making the biggest mistake of her life by marrying longtime friend, Joshua Brewster. There was something special and romantic about how the author wrote the scene of Gavin rescuing Allie and it made my heart swoon after I read it. I really felt bad for Josh that Allie jilted him at the altar, but in the long run I knew they were marrying more out of convenience than being in love with each other. I have to say that I enjoyed getting to know all the characters as personally as I did, but by the same token there was something about Allie that annoyed me. I found myself not being able to get as close to her as I did the other characters and it wasn’t because she called off her and Josh’s wedding either. I honestly believed that needed to be done no matter what. They weren’t marrying each other because they were deeply in love, so it needed to be stopped before exchanging their vows. I wanted to see Allie and Gavin reconnect and reignite the spark they once had together. All-in-all this was a fun and enjoyable book that tied up this series nicely for me. I’d recommend this book, as well as the series, although each book can stand alone. Well done, Ms. Nicholas!
Allison Ralston is having major second thoughts about marrying her fiancé Josh Brewster and being at the church isn’t helping the jitters she’s experiencing. Josh is the perfect guy to marry, but she’s not in love with him. Growing up together has made them more like brother and sister than future husband and wife. Her family’s happiness is on the line though so maybe marrying Josh isn’t as bad as she thinks it is. Or maybe it is. That is until her ex-boyfriend, Gavin Montgomery, storms in and rescues the only girl who has stolen his heart. He’ll stop at nothing to make certain she doesn’t say “I do,” but is what they had together in the past strong enough to rekindle the flame between them? Can Gavin convince Allie that she’s the woman he wants to spend the rest of his life with?
And she thought the bridesmaids dresses were her biggest problem...
Promise Harbor Wedding, Book 4
Allison Ralston would rather be anywhere other than this wedding. Even if the wedding is hers. Especially since the wedding is hers.
But Allie’s determined to restore her family’s happiness, and if tying the knot with longtime family friend Josh Brewster is the way to do it, then she’ll walk down that aisle, toss that bouquet and drink that champagne.
Oh, she’ll definitely drink the champagne.
There’s only one thing that could get Gavin Montgomery back to Promise Harbor. And she’s about to say I do to another man. Now he’s back to claim what’s his—even if he has to do it in the middle of her wedding.
Allie is shocked—and okay, a little turned on—when Gavin literally sweeps her off her feet. Safe in his arms, she succumbs to fatigue, stress, and yes, the champagne, only to wake up in his bed. In Alaska.
Now that he’s put four thousand miles between Allie and all her responsibilities, Gavin’s determined to show her that they can make a life together. If he has his way, the next wedding Allie will be planning will be theirs.
Warning: Contains a guy so in love he’s willing to break up the wedding of the season, a bride who just needs to get to, well, anywhere else, and enough hot sex to take them from New England to Alaska and back again.
