When Maddy Fitch, a best-selling author, decides to return to her hometown of Harbour Falls, Maine to do some research for her upcoming book, she never realizes what she’s going to get herself into. She’s curious to find out more information on a four year cold case that still seems to haunt this small coastal town. When she arrives, she sees Adam Ward, who has been the prime suspect in the disappearance of his fiancée the night before their wedding. He now lives on a small isolated island near the coast and Maddy wants to find out why he’s living in such seclusion. No matter what she discovers, she wants to get to the bottom of this case. Unfortunately though, as she’s digging around for clues, she doesn’t realize just how interested she’ll become of sexy Adam. There’s a tension between them that can’t be denied, but will they act upon it? Does Maddy find who the true killer is? Was Adam involved in any way in the disappearance of his missing fiancée?
I absolutely loved this first book in the Harbour Falls Series. Right from the start, I was pulled in and went on an emotional roller coaster ride while Maddy was digging up the clues to this four year cold case. I found myself falling for Adam, but all along my guard was up because I wasn’t sure if he was involved or not in the disappearance of his fiancée. I wanted his name to be cleared of everything. As I was reading, I kept it in the back of my mind that he was never charged with his fiancée’s disappearance, so I was hoping that was because he truly had nothing to do with her disappearance and not that the cops couldn’t find enough evidence to truly arrest him. The chemistry and sexual tension between Maddy and Adam were undeniable and I really wanted Adam to be freed of any implications so he could move forward with possibly having a relationship with Maddy now. If you love romantic suspense stories that keep you guessing until the very end, than this is one book you shouldn’t pass up. I highly recommend it and look forward to reading the rest of the series.
Best-selling author Maddy Fitch, while researching material for a new novel, returns to her hometown of Harbour Falls to investigate an unsolved disappearance that has haunted the tiny Maine coastal town for the past four years. Although the case has gone cold, Maddy soon discovers that the prime suspect, Adam Ward, is hotter than ever.
The sexy, secretive Mr. Ward now makes his home on an isolated island near the coast, so Maddy takes up residence nearby to find out why this enigmatic man lives in such a secluded place. Is it because the missing person at the heart of the case, a young woman, was engaged to Adam at the time of her disappearance? Did the prime suspect perhaps move to escape the town’s scrutiny, or is he hiding something much more sinister?
As Maddy plunges into the case, she and Adam are drawn together. Should she fight her growing attraction to a possibly dangerous man? The mystery deepens, and the list of suspects, people who all had reasons for wanting to see the missing young woman gone, grows. Maddy hopes that by solving the mystery Adam will be proven innocent of any involvement, and they can then move forward with their relationship. But as she uncovers clues that begin to lead suspicion away from Adam, new secrets emerge that leave her questioning everything. Maddy continues to close in on the truth, threatening to blow the lid off the whole mystery. But what she doesn’t realize is that she’s actually caught up in someone’s very dangerous game.
Lies, secrets, deceptions. In Harbour Falls, nothing is ever what it seems. This steamy novel immerses the reader in an intricate storyline that will keep them glued till the very last page.
