Exile

Keeper of the Lost Cities, #2

In this second installment, we find Sophie settling more into her new home and life as being a new member of the lost cities. This time around though, she’s away from the school setting and we’re taken on the adventures she faces in her new surroundings. The most remarkable thing that leaves a lasting impression on her is that she stumbles upon an alicorn, a unicorn with wings, which the councils have been searching for over the millenniums. This alicorn only shows herself to Sophie because she trusts her, but no one else. As they grow closer, Sophie is also trying to adjust to all her new abilities. As school fast approaches for Sophie again, she discovers some cryptic messages from the infamous group The Black Swan. They tell her that she should seek some answers from people that are already close to her. Does Sophie find the answers she’s looking for? Is she able to convince the alicorn to show herself to everyone?

This was a fun and very imaginative book that I easily lost myself in for a few hours. Everything about the lost cities and the characters were spectacularly created and any reader will find themselves believing this world and these people exist. I especially loved the alicorn that Sophie was very fond of. There were plenty of twists and turns to keep you riveted to your seat and constantly wondering what will happen next as you turn the pages. Ms. Messenger has a magical imagination and I do hope she creates more worlds in other series for her fans to fall in love with. I highly recommend this book and look forward to seeing what else this talented author has available already. Don’t pass this one up!
