Poppy is a pig with big dreams. She wants to be a prima ballerina, but when she tries out all she does is trip over her own feet. Her family and her best friend, Emma, convince her to keep following what her heart desires. She then tries out for Singing Stars, but they all find out that she sings off-key and can't carry a tune. With more encouragement from her family and best friend, she then tries out for Supermodel Search. Unfortunately, that doesn't work out well for her either.
On a "pigs day out" with her family and Emma, she sees different skaters having fun at a nearby ice skating rink. She knows she wants to try out to be a figure skater because it looks like so much fun.
The question is what happens to Poppy when she tries figure skating? Could she have found something that she truly loves and is good at? Does Poppy ever fulfill her big dream?
I absolutely adored this children's novel by Ms. Kristi Yamaguchi. I loved the author's creative and fun writing style. I found all the positive encouragement that was offered to Poppy along the way to be the perfect catalyst to drive any child who reads this to want to fulfill their own dreams just as Poppy was trying to do. I know that this is Ms. Yamaguchi's first published book and I do hope she plans on continuing with her new found writing career. Well done!
