Sixteen-year-old Nara Collins seems average on the outside, but in harsh reality she's not. If being a teenager isn't hard enough, when Nara goes to sleep at night, she actual dreams about her next day's events. This seems to make life a bit easier for this teenager in the fact that she already knows the answers to her school exams or even knows how other things will turn out before they even happen to her schoolmates. But when she has one dream, which is really more like a nightmare for her, she decides that this warrants her to actually do something about it. Something she wouldn't have done in the past.
You see Nara dreams of a bombing at school and she decides that she needs to step in to save the lives of the people that will eventually be involved in it. But once she calls in the bomb threat to the local police, it seems that she has changed the lives of everyone that should have been involved. Instead of this being a positive thing in the long run, it turns into a horrific disaster for them all. Ironically, the people that were supposed to get hurt during the school bombing are now being hurt in other freak accidents and it all seems to stem from the fact that she stepped in and changed Fate's plan.
I don't want to forget to add to the mix that a mysterious loner named Ethan meets up with her and things definitely become quite interesting between them to say the least.
Can Nara and Ethan get the course of events back on track the way they were meant to be or will unexplained accidents keep occurring because they stepped on Fate's toes?
I absolutely loved this YA story. The characters were extremely believable and I felt like Nara was a friend of mine telling me her story as I turned the pages. I loved the whole mysteriously dark side theme that ran through the storyline and I found myself riveted to my seat anxiously waiting to see what would happen next. This is the first book in the Brightest Kind of Darkness series and if Ms. Michelle keeps writing other stories along this nature, I feel this series will do extremely well. Great job, Ms. Michelle!
Nara Collins is an average sixteen-year-old, with one exception: every night she dreams the events of the following day. Due to an incident in her past, Nara avoids using her special gift to change fate…until she dreams a future she can’t ignore.
After Nara prevents a bombing at Blue Ridge High, her ability to see the future starts to fade, while people at school are suddenly being injured at an unusually high rate.
Grappling with her diminishing powers and the need to prevent another disaster, Nara meets Ethan Harris, a mysterious loner who seems to understand her better than anyone. Ethan and Nara forge an irresistible connection, but as their relationship heats up, so do her questions about his dark past.
