While Tara Russell is watching her brother's Great Dane, Sugar, she decides that she'll take her to the local fair to have some fun. She never imagines that while they're walking around Sugar would set her sights on a guy in a suit and want to introduce herself to him. Sugar runs over to the guy and it seems like it's not only love at first sight for Sugar, but also for Tara. She finds out this handsome man is named Wes and that he's in town to do some business. But Sugar seems to have other ideas of having fun when she inadvertently throws up on poor Wes because she just stole an ice cream cone and she's unfortunately lactose intolerant. This seems to seal the deal on Tara and Wes getting to know each other a bit better.
Wes Carter is in Redemption to scope out a new place to live because it's time for him to leave his shady, troubled past behind him. He wants to settle down in a small quaint town and Redemption seems to be a place he'd consider settling down in. But since he just happened to meet Tara, a beautiful and spunky girl with an incorrigible Great Dane glued to her hip, things definitely seem to be making him decide that Redemption is exactly the place he should move to. Now throw in the mix that Tara's family is way too overprotective of her and they don't like the looks of Wes because of his gang tattoos and you have the perfect blend of humor, love and new beginnings within this story.
Do Tara and Wes decide to start something together even though her family has warned Wes to stay away from her? If so, could they make it work?
This is Book 2 in the Welcome To Redemption series and I must say that I absolutely loved it! Ms. Netzel has a way of creating fun-loving characters and she has them dealing with hilarious situations in the process which makes any reader crack up laughing. I loved Sugar the Great Dane and felt she was the cherry on this sweet romantic story. I liked seeing that Tara's family cared enough that they were overprotective of her, but I wanted them to at least give Wes a chance to prove himself to Tara and the rest of them before they tried chasing him away from her. If you want to find out how this story ends, you have to pick up a copy for yourself. Well done, Ms. Netzel! Please keep the stories coming!
Note: The Welcome To Redemption series takes takes place in a tiny Midwest town named Redemption, Wisconsin. Each one of the stories concentrates on specific people for that story, but they all continually have the entire cast of characters walking in and out of the pages.
