As a divorced mother of two, Lauren Frazier is trying her hardest to make ends meet while she takes care of her older son and younger daughter without any help from her ex-husband. As a matter of fact, her ex seems to not want anything to do with his children and that is definitely affecting Max a great deal. So much so that he seems to be in all the wrong places when trouble occurs and Lauren just doesn't know what to do with him at this stage. He's getting into too much trouble and Lauren fears he's going to do something extremely stupid and she won't be able to reverse any damage he's done to himself. But things seem to drastically take a turn for the better when a stranger named Caleb Hunter comes for a haircut at Lauren's house.
Caleb is in town again after years have passed since his last visit with his family. Now that his mother has recently passed away, he seems to be doing plenty of soul searching trying to decide if moving back to Redemption would be a good thing for him to do or not. But once he meets Lauren while being at her house for a haircut, it seems there's an instant attraction between these two. Maybe returning to Redemption permanently might not be such a bad idea after all.
Do Lauren and Caleb act upon their mutual attraction with each other? Could they have found their soul mates within one another or would this just be a hot fling to satisfy the sexual urges they feel when they're together? Could Caleb be able to adjust to having an instant family after being by himself for such a long time?
I really enjoyed this first book in the Welcome To Redemption series. I loved getting to know Lauren and her children. When Ms. Rogers introduced Caleb into the story, I immediately took a liking to him and thought he'd be a perfect companion to Lauren and a great role model to Max and Emma. The chemistry between these two characters was instantaneous and I could swear I saw sparks flying everywhere when these two were in the same room together. I really wanted Lauren and her kids to find happiness again and I definitely felt that Caleb was the perfect man to do just that for them. Overall, I thought this was a great story and I would highly recommend it to other readers!
Note: The Welcome to Redemption series takes takes place in a tiny Midwest town named Redemption, Wisconsin. Each one of the stories concentrates on specific people for that story, but they all continually have the entire cast of characters walking in and out of the pages.
