I liked this story as an escape over the holidays. It was exactly what I needed to keep my imagination intrigued, and occupied enough to forget about holiday stress and remember the real reasons to celebrate, which are evidently present throughout the story.
I like Frankie’s character because she’s an artist who’s had realistic work issues in a freelance career, which seemed to make sense to drive the story. Frankie’s connection to Phillip, who is just as career motivated as her, takes on a genuine male persona that is believable and allows readers to get hooked into their complicated romance.
I found the first chapter started off a little confusing because it takes place at a wedding with many characters involved, but once the author establishes the two main characters and their motivations, the story starts running wild with lust and satisfaction.
I especially enjoyed reading how Frankie slowly introduces a traditional style of Christmas to Phillip, opening up a whole new world of holiday cheer and happiness to dissolve his dismissive and sour attitude. Frankie’s process of changing Phillip’s negative perspective is humorous at times, and made me wonder where these two conflicting characters would end up, which kept me engaged in the read.
