“Bondage Ranch II: Pushing Limits” by Sindra van Yssel, is a self exploration into a woman's desires to experience higher levels of sexual awareness and pleasure.
Ms. Van Yssel has crafted a well written woman's journey into the realization of the limitless pleasures that can be experienced, once the shackles of one’s self-imposed limits have been discarded and control is relinquished in order to fulfill one's deepest desires.
Samantha Grayson / Sam has always felt drawn to the BDSM lifestyle and has been a weekend only active participant for many years. Her constant need to keep the lifestyle separate from her everyday routine, has lead to some disastrous encounter with unsuitable Dominates. These encounters have unfortunately fostered feeling of mistrust, betrayal and fear all of which have contributed to her being labeled an un-trainable submissive. A reputation that has led to a limited number of potential masters, that is until she catches the eye of the new dom in town.
Ms. Van Yssel’s character development of Samantha was a lesson to the wise; knowledge and understanding are paramount within the lifestyle. Although Samantha had been a participant in the lifestyle for years, her personality and behavior suggests that she is less knowledgeable than she should have been. The author successfully conveys this point to the reader in Samantha's penchant of wanting to please her masters, without thought for herself.
While Arthur is not portrayed as a hard core dom, his understanding of the submissive nature and his patience were aspects of the character that I really did like. His ability to put Samantha at ease during their play sessions was touchingly realistic.
I felt that the Ms. Van Yssel’s inclusion of Samantha’s reluctance to intermingle the BDSM lifestyle into her everyday routine touches upon a very real concern for those that actually do indulge in the lifestyle. The fear of ridicule and malicious attacks are a real and palatable concern within the lifestyle; its presence in the novel added an additional level of realism to the novel.
Ms. Van Yssel has delivered a well paced novel that is both engaging and informative. I highly recommend it.
