"Awakened by a Kiss" by Lila DiPasqua, is an erotically charged trilogy based on three fabled fairy tales; Sleeping Beau for Sleeping Beauty, Little Red Writing for Little Red Riding-hood and Bewitching in Boots for Puss-n-Boots.
Ms. DiPasqua has composed a delightful collection of stories steeped with intense sexuality that sizzles from the pages to deliver a unique perspective.
In "Sleeping Beau", notorious rake Adrien d’Aspe has been haunted for five years of a night of bliss found in the arms of a mysterious woman. Catherine has always tried to maintain an air of dignity and propriety, yet one night of passion in an attempt to break her betrothed arrangement, sets in motion a hunger that spans years. I love how Catherine is portrayed as a strong willed woman, who is willing to explore her own sexual pleasure. Yet in keeping with the times, the story does show the arranged marriage and mistress side of the period. The story does a great job of incorporating the different elements of the "Sleeping Beauty” theme in its telling.
In "Little Red Writing", Nicolas De Savignac ”Le Loup”, an ambitious musketeer is on a mission to uncover the identity of the infamous Gilbert Leduc, a writer of questionable articles that exposes the improprieties and injustices that have befallen some women at the hands of their husbands, fathers and other family members. Ms. DiPasqua attention to detail in her descriptions of the physical side of Nicolas and Ann’s attraction to each other, really allows a reader to enjoy their sexual explorations. Again different elements of “Little Red Riding-Hood” are successfully woven into the story.
In “Bewitching in Boots”, Elisabeth De Roussel, daughter to the king is about to take matters into her own hands, now that the king has decided to marry off his unwed daughters. In this third fairy tale based story, I just love free-wheeling, I got a plan Elisabeth. I really loved that she was willing to do whatever was necessary to secure the serious Tristan De Tiersonnier as her next husband. Her outlandish attire and those boots really made for a fun loving character. Her sense of family really endeared her to me and the fact that she knew what she need to do to protect her sister against the malicious court really said a lot about her as a person. Unfortunately, I have never read “Puss-n-boots”, shame on me, but I can make a guess and say that as with the previous two stories, elements of “Puss-n-Boots” also exist in this story as well.
I complement Ms. DiPasqua for crafting three highly sexually charged stories that really capitalizes and showcases the attitude of the “free thinking woman” who is able to express what she likes in the boudoir. I highly recommend "Awakened by a Kiss".
