Cassie Taylor, has an unusual occupation, some call her a ghost Whisperer, others a ghost therapist, still others a ghost buster. No matter what title Cassie has felt like an outcast from society due to her ability to talk to and see the ghosts of those who have remained because they died too early.
Luke Rivers, a famous musician and song writer, found the daughter of his ex-wife is actually his and not that of her lover as he had been told. When his ex-wife nearly dies of an overdose and is found to be incompetent he is given custody of Erin. He gets her out of Southern California and moves to a small town in Central Wisconsin. After he buy a house and moves in he finds the house is already occupied by a ghost that is terrorizing him and his daughter.
Cassie arrives with her best friend Joe. Joe is a ghost. He was killed in the line of duty 50 years before. She is met at the door by a very skeptical Luke. Shortly after Cassie tells him Isobel Shay was murdered. He is forced to believe in her abilities when he sees Isobel attack Cassie and then meets Joe. While dealing with all this he must also cope with a daughter who hates him. She blames him for her being taken from her mother and for good reason. Her mother is secretly e-mailing her alternately blaming Erin for calling 911 and blaming Luke. She continually plays on her daughters love telling her she will die without her and uses emotional blackmail to keep Erin on edge and afraid.
This story will keep you on the edge of your seat from the start. There are elements of romance, a ghost story, suspense and mystery. I fell in love with Joe and hope his story is soon to be known.
This is a different type of storyline, but a no less fantastic book by Edie Ramer. It only goes to prove the diversity of her talents that she can write in so many genres while keeping her readers entertained with both humor and awe. For those of us who cannot wait to read more about Cassie there is "Dead People In Love" a short novella that takes up where "Dead People Haunter Hearts" leaves off. I hope you will enjoy everything about this book from beginning to end as much as I did. Give it a try and I can guarantee you will be back for more.
When Cassie Taylor talks, ghosts listen. She wants to heal their souls so they can leave earth. Brooding songwriter Luke Rivers wants to give his recently found daughter a normal home, but he discovers his new house in small town Wisconsin is haunted by a ghost with an attitude. Cassie has an attitude too — even before someone tries to kill her.
He wants conventional; she wants acceptance. No wonder she thinks men are hard and dead people are easy.
