Megan Blair is a skilled doctor who is very empathetic. One night, one the way home from work she is nearly run of the road by someone in a truck, at that point her life changes as she begins to learn the horrible secrets from her past. As a person from her past returns, that she faintly recognizes, her memories seem to return to her as well. Megan listens to a bizarre story of murder and hatred and realizes that she needs to help Neil, even though she does not completely trust him. Many years ago Megan came to the attention of a powerful madman who hates her because of her mother and her special abilities, Megan must work together with Neil to attempt to save others like herself who have special gifts.
Neil has been on the hunt for years, trying to find a Ledger, which would draw out the madman so he could be stopped. Now Neil needs Megan's help to find it. As Megan's powers become more powerful and more surprises are discovered Megan and Neil draw on the support of everyone they can.
Pandora's Daughter is extremely well written and a pleasure to read. I could not put this book down until I was done and spent a couple of late nights reading it. I found the characters to be strong, determined and interesting. I would enjoy reading more of all the characters and I hope that some of the secondary characters would get their own story later on. Ms. Johansen is a skilled writer and I will be looking for more of her books to read.
