Industrial Magic

Industrial Magic

Paige Winterbourne has left her position in her Coven as the leader of the American Coven. Paige is trying to recruit witches to her new Coven, a Coven that would help all witches. She is guardian to Savannah, the orphaned daughter of a black witch and a sorcerer father. She is also dating Lucas Cortez, the announced heir to the Cortez Cabal, who is an independent lawyer away from the Cabal.

Lucas's father comes to Paige and Lucas, asking for their help in an investigation where children of the Cabal employees are being murdered. The Cabal's are families of sorcerers, who are likened to the mafia. Paige and Lucas decide to help the Cabal's to find the killer. As other Cabal's are involved and they all jostle to be in charge, danger and distrust run rampant.

Paige and Lucas call on old friends and acquaintances to help in the investigation, especially when the wrong man is found guilty and killed for the slayings. Jaime, a necromancer, Cassandra, a vampire, Elena and Clay who are werewolves all come to help Paige and Lucas. As the investigation proceeds they realize that the individual is out to attack Cabal children and extract revenge on a wrong done.

This book is part of the Women of the Otherworld series. It features Paige, a witch, as she battles against and with the supernatural world to keep children, especially her ward, Savannah safe. I enjoyed this book a lot and look forward to seeing more from this author. Ms. Armstrong writes an interesting and entertaining world and it is a pleasure to get lost in the story. This is the third book I have read of Ms. Armstrong's and I will be looking for the rest of her books. This book will be joining my keep pile.

Book Blurb for Industrial Magic

Meet the smart, sexy — supernatural — women of the otherworld. This is not your mother’s coven... Kelley Armstrong returns with the eagerly awaited follow-up to Dime Store Magic. Paige Winterbourne, a headstrong young woman haunted by a dark legacy, is now put to the ultimate test as she fights to save innocents from the most insidious evil of all.. . . In the aftermath of her mother’s murder, Paige broke with the elite, ultraconservative American Coven of Witches. Now her goal is to start a new Coven for a new generation. But while Paige pitches her vision to uptight thirty-something witches in business suits, a more urgent matter commands her attention. Someone is murdering the teenage offspring of the underworld’s most influential Cabals — a circle of families that makes the mob look like amateurs. And none is more powerful than the Cortez Cabal, a faction Paige is intimately acquainted with. Lucas Cortez, the rebel son and unwilling heir, is none other than her boyfriend. But love isn’t blind, and Paige has her eyes wide open as she is drawn into a hunt for an unnatural-born killer. Pitted against shamans, demons, and goons, it’s a battle chilling enough to make a wild young woman grow up in a hurry. If she gets the chance.
