Devin Owen is a Werewolf back from the Dragon Wars. After being in the war for 15 years and being held prisoner and tortured for the last five years, he has some healing to do. Coming home to realize that his family has changed dramatically and knowing that his Wolf is no longer available to him, hopefully temporarily, leaves him with a very slow recovery and contemplating what to do with his life. Lena Knox has lived near Devin for her whole life and she has known for the last 15 years that he is her mate. Now she just needs to find a way to help him and get his Wolf to come out to realize that they are fully mates. As they both deal with the demands of an ongoing war and the ramifications of that war they are drawn to one another. Will it be enough to save them both?
Rebecca Royce never fails to write brilliant books, the characters jump off the page and some of the scenes are so sizzling that you require a fire hose to cool down. I thoroughly enjoy all of Ms. Royce’s books and this new book, in a new series, is no exception. I look forward to reading more from Ms. Royce is a world where Dragons and Werewolves are at war and love can continue to find itself.
Devin Owen has come back from the Dragon Wars a changed Werewolf. For one thing, he's lost his wolf side as well as much of his desire to live. He spends most of his life doped up to handle the pain from his injured leg.
Lena Knox knew the moment she met Devin that he was her mate. But, she’d been a child at the time and he hadn't noticed her at all. Now, all grown up, she wants Devin to be the wolf she’s waited for. Not that she has a lot of time for longing with life and home crumbling around her.
A couple of heated encounters draw them together, but is it enough to overcome the war wounds they both carry? Or will an outside enemy destroy them before they get the chance to find forever?
