What Happens in Scotland is a delightful historical romance from debut author Jennifer McQuiston. It will charm the hearts of readers.
Georgette comes to Scotland to visit her cousin and get on with her life after the death of her no-good, lying, cheating husband. She's through with mourning and ready to get on with living. One minute she's fighting off the advances of her cousin and the next she's living-out-loud. Suddenly she's drinking booze, giving lap-dances to drunk Scots and instigating drunken barroom brawls. She never dreamed she'd wake up the next morning with a strange man in her bed and no memory of the night before. Hmmm…the ring on her finger and the gleam in his eye send the normally mild mannered widow into a panic. What's a girl to do? Well, Georgette hurls the chamber pot at his head, of course.
Reformed hell raiser, James McKenzie, is livid when he awakens with a busted head and a missing purse. He thought his days of wild living were a thing of the past. How could he have fallen off the bandwagon so easily? A pretty face and a pair of shapely legs are the most likely explanation. The handsome attorney at large will make his thieving wife pay if it's the last thing he does.
It's a twisted path the newlyweds take to find each other. Jaimie and his faux bride are outraged as they piece together the puzzle of their wild night together. Their inquiries reveal some wild exploits...each one more outlandish than the last. But these lovebirds only want to know one thing...are they married or not? Will they stay together if they are? And what really set this event in motion?
I absolutely loved this book. Jaimie and Georgette go from strangers to adversaries to having a common enemy. Jaimie really was a chivalrous man with honorable intentions. There really was a villain in this story. And intrigue aplenty. Jaimie and Georgette go from wanting their freedom to wanting forever. Sigh...
Looks like I've found a new author to follow. Readers beware... you'll love this charming story as much as I did. So what are you waiting for...grab yourself a copy and get to reading.
When recent widow Georgette Thorold wakes up beside an attractive but unmemorable stranger, she has more to sort out than her missing memory. Her cousin, whom she is supposed to be visiting, is nowhere in sight, and the wedding ring on her finger suggests she did more than kiss the handsome Scotsman in her bed. Determined to either correct an egregious error or pretend it...
