I loved it! This book was an attention getter, for sure. It was splendidly written, entertaining, action packed, and so darn hot that the pages nearly went up in flames.
Katie Ashley broke my heart with the beginning and had me entranced from those first pages onward. The first scenes made me cry for Willow. This story was so intense that I could not put it down. It is rare that I can get swept away by a book like that. At times it had me on the edge of my seat, mad at one of the characters, gobsmacked by another and my heart torn out for yet another one. The vivid descriptions, the picture that was created in my mind, made me feel as if I was right there experiencing every moment right along with the characters that came alive in my mind.
I have to say that I did not like Deacon at first, but after reading on a bit I found myself hoping that he, Alexandra and Willow would get the family they deserved. Deacon and Alex had amazing chemistry that I could virtually feel from their first meeting. Another good thing was how much Alex surprised me. She wasn't how I expected her to be at all. No spoilers here, but I really liked how she owned some of her scenes.
Katie Ashley's writing on this book is amazing. It's raw and emotional, filled with the dark realism of heartache and loss, but also the bonds of love, family and brotherhood. I truly am hooked on this series. I quickly fell in love with the Malloy brothers, especially Rev. This story had me wondering what the demons that haunted him were and what dark truth will his story bring. I loved the glimpse into his upcoming story so much that I'll surely be stalking the author for a release date on that one. My words cannot possibly describe how much I loved this great book. But I will leave you with this.... It's the best book I've read this year.
