The Seduction of Miss Amelia Bell

The MacGregors: Highland Heirs, #1

This is such a great book! I was elated to discover that Paula Quinn would be continuing her much loved MacGregor series with the third generation of Highlanders. I have come to love this series for the wonderful characters and their adventures in love of family, friendship and passion. As I had come to expect from Quinn.... The Seduction of Miss Amelia Bell was a captivating story from beginning to end.

Edmond is the eldest son of Colin and Gillian MacGregor from Conquered by a Highlander. Edmund loves his adopted family and shares their passion for freedom. He and his cousins are willing to do anything to stop a treaty that is sure to take away Scotland's independence. That means kidnapping an innocent young beauty to use as a bargaining chip then so be it. Instead Edmund finds himself captivated by the charming Amelia, and suddenly rethinking his decision to take her. Keep her or let her go for the good of his country. The drama was never ending with Edmund and Amelia trying to turn their back on the bond that was born between them.... yet wishing they could stay together. The story was intense at times with a few intricate subplots unfolding involving the cousins and their own romantic relationships. This part really livened up the plot, along with the sense of suspense about what the real villains in the story were going to do next. Would love prevail for Edmund and Amelia? Would he take his love home to Camlochlin? I tell you this.... Quinn had me holding my breath for a while there.

So what I would say is that this book had everything that I needed to make it a 5 star read. Great writing with descriptive tidbits thrown in that were rich in historical details. Paula Quinn does this with a true finesse that added to my enjoyment of the story being told. It had a tried and true plot that I loved. If you liked the rest of the MacGregor saga, then trust me, you will love this book just as much if not more. Quinn created wonderful characters that pulled me in deep, and already has me hungering to learn more about the new generation of MacGregors. The story had plenty of passion, romance and adventure. The Seduction of Miss Amelia Bell is all about loyalty, honor and love. I felt it was one of the best books I've read in a long time. I will surely be recommending it to everyone and their cousin. It is worthy of 5 flying stars from this happy reader!!!
