I was blown away by this book! I'm going to let everybody in on a secret. I've read this book before. In fact, Sweet Dreams happens to be my #1 favorite book in this whole entire world.
I'm not going to start gushing about how Tate Jackson is my favorite book husband of all time. He simply is. Just as Lauren is my favorite heroine as well. Together they are my favorite romance couple. I just had to get that out there. Yes, if you ask me that same question ten years from now my answer will still be the same. Now, I will be giving you the reasons why.
I've read this book so many times that I know it by heart, but I'll tell you just a tiny bit about it and maybe pique your interest to take the best reading journey of your life. The story begins when Lauren Grahame's winding path leads her to Carnal Colorado and a job as a waitress in Bubba's biker bar. Now, Lauren is not your typical romantic heroine. She's a few years over forty, and started out on the heavy side. She was on a journey of sorts. Tired of heartache, she's given up on ever finding that something special. Yet, that's just what she finds in this book. She captures the heart of sexy biker/bounty hunter Tatum Jackson. She finds passion, friendship and family. Yes, she has lots of steamy sex too. Her new life wasn't without excitement though. A couple of jealous psycho exes, a hidden danger and some huge plot twists made this lengthy book an easy read. Time flew by as I shut out the world until the last page was turned.
I absolutely love Kristen Ashley's writing style. I enjoy the rambling descriptions and dialogue. It's what pulls me so deep into the story. It helps to see the characters in my mind and to hear their voices. This is what I need to make an ordinary story into a truly awesome one that I'm coming back to time and time again. Let’s talk about the characters that Ashley created. I won't be forgetting them any time soon. Tate was the best alpha man ever! Yes, he could be a jerk. In the beginning, I didn't like him all that much. Ashley had me struggling to like him, and then helped me to fall in love with him. I love it when that happens. She created a strong and unique heroine in Lauren, who ended up being one strong chick. Friendship figured strongly in this story, along with the great secondary characters that made me want to know these fictional people. Ashley knows how to set up the scene. She gave me a sense of the setting in every way, pulling me into every scene. I got mad. I got sad. I was outraged at times. I laughed my butt off too. I found myself sighing and wondering where I might find myself an alpha man like Tate. Lastly, Ashley has a gift for creating dialogue that flowed naturally instead of formally stilted. It's one of the things that I like best about her writing.
As I said, I had been here before. Yes, this book was previously released in digital format, and I have the e-book on my kindle. What I want to make perfectly clear is that despite having already read Sweet Dreams dozens of times on my kindle, I immediately sat down to enjoy the print version as soon as it hit my mailbox. Sweet Dreams is an awesome read that will never get old for this reader. It is one for the keeper shelf, that's for sure. Lastly, this is the one book that I have consistently recommended to all of my friends and reading pals. So I am more than happy to be recommending it to everyone else.
She's ready for the ride of her life . . .
Lauren Grahame is looking to reinvent herself. After leaving her cheating husband, Lauren moves to Carnal, Colorado, and gets a job as a waitress in a biker bar called Bubba's. It's a nothing job in a nowhere joint . . . until Tatum Jackson walks in. Lauren has never seen a man with such good looks, muscles, and attitude. But when he insults her, Lauren doesn't want anything to do with him. Too bad for Lauren he's also the bar's part owner and bartender.
When the rough-around-the-edges Tate meets the high-class Lauren, he thinks she won't fit in at Bubba's. Yet there's more to Lauren than meets the eye, and Tate soon sets his mind on claiming her as his own. Before long, the desire burning between them is heating up the cold mountain air. But when violence strikes the town, Tate must reveal a dark secret to Lauren-one that may put an end to their sweet dreams.
