"Misappropriate" is one of those books that you do not wanna miss. Kathryn Kelly is my new 'go to' author for my MC fix. "Misappropriate" is a hard and fast ride with everything I enjoy reading in an MC book. It's raw and gritty, and Kelly knows how to make it seem so real for the reader. That's a must-read author for me right there. She brings it home in the romance and hot sex department, too. So there is everything to love about this book. It held me spellbound right up until the end.
Kelly continues Megan and Outlaw's story in this second book. Their relationship is as hot and wild as ever in this one. Just so you know, it's not all rainbows and unicorns, though. Outlaw's past comes calling and it ain't pretty. In fact things get rather nasty right outta the gate. They have their love and their adorable son to hold them together, though. I just gotta say that I love how Kelly created their bond. They are fiercely loyal to each other. Sometimes it gets to the breaking point cause they have people trying to tear them apart. Then there is Outlaw and his badass attitude. He does some things and he screws up more than once. But he's also a guy who's gonna win you over in the end. He's a big bad biker, a scary dude who is capable of extreme violence and cusses with every breath. Then he goes and shows us his soft side with Megan and CJ. This is a story that is intense for the most part, but it has romantic times too. It is a love story about two people who have a lot of crap going on around them, while they're trying to make it all right and be what the other one needs. Outlaw wants to be the man for Megan 'cause deep down he thinks he's not good enough for her. She is his light. We see that vulnerability over and over again. Megan just wants to be with her man so she tries to fit into his world. So we see them making some changes in this book. Yet they do this without compromising the things that made the readers fall in love with them. In other words, it balances out just right.
Kelly had a lot going on in this one. I liked the suspense and the action. Something comes full circle for Outlaw. Some other things are put into motion, I think for future books in this series. She set up something for most of them, Val, John Boy and Mortician for sure. I can't wait for that, so I hope the author writes fast as I will be waiting for it.
Now, it's time for a few of my personal opinions about this book. I loved the story. I love Kathryn Kelly's writing style. It rocks! The dialogue was so real and had a natural flow that pulls the reader right into the scene. The characters were wonderful, and despite all the heavy drama, they made the book fun for me. I fell even more head over heels in love with Outlaw than I already had in the first book. Of course I loved Megan. What's not to love? She was sweet and innocent, with a naughty side that came out more in this one. I guess her old man is rubbing off on her cause their love scenes were sinfully hot. *Grin* Now, there were a few characters that I couldn't make myself like on a good day. I couldn't stand Megan's mom, Dinah. I don't care what kinda crap she endured, that woman crossed the line more than once. But things are looking up for her, I think. Zoann....not so much. I wanted to bitch-slap her into next week. Kelly may have her and Val getting back together, but I hope not. Unless Kelly brings her character around and shows me something good in her, I hope she just gives Val a new woman. Mortician and the new girl, Bailey--bring it on! Gonna be some friction with her dad but hey....as Outlaw would say, "It ain't nothing but a thing." And last, but by no means least... My happy self can't wait for John Boy to find his own woman so he can stop crushing on Megan. Maybe the hot hooker who wasn't really a hooker? Yeah, there is something there, I just know it. So can you tell how much I got pulled into this book? For real, it's been a long time since it's been this good for me.
Now something that I rarely do is give a quote from a book. Wouldn't want to spoil anything for other readers, you know. But this is special so just this once I'm gonna include my favorite quotes from the book. It will tell you a lot about the characters and their relationship.
No way could Outlaw be called a poet .... but he does pretty well for a biker :
"You're the sun and the moon to me, a bright shinin' star in my *effed* up world."
"No matter how many times you need liftin' up--I'll catch you and lift you back up where you need to be. I love the *eff* outta you, Megan, and I ain't ever gonna stop."
Of course, Megan ain't bad at the sweet-talking either: "No matter how many times you fall I'll always be there to pull you up. You own me body and soul. You're my everything."
I highly recommend this one to everyone, especially those who enjoy reading books that are set in the MC world. This is the real thing. It's a wild ride you won't soon forget.
Megan Foy is finally getting the big wedding she's dreamed of. With her new child and the affection of the brothers of the Death Dwellers' MC, her life is settling down.
However, a new threat rides into town and targets Christopher "Outlaw" Caldwell, forcing him to reevaluate his life once more and endangering everyone. Most of all, it threatens Meggie's newfound peace.
This is a full-length novel.
