This is a story about forgiveness. It is an emotional and compelling story where anger leads to regrets. It's about letting go and earning redemption and happiness. Oh, I loved this one.
It pulled me in right from the first page, punched me in the gut and had me wondering how the hero would ever be able to redeem himself from there. The author held me breathlessly captive as the drama unfolded while she made me hate him and then relentlessly tore him down in his remorse until I finally began to believe in him and want them to have a happy ending together.
I won't lie to you, this one opened with a particularly nasty scene. I totally hated Marcus even as I just knew that he'd probably hate himself even more. I was right. Then he spent most of the book desperate to make things right. Perhaps too little too late for Natasha because she hardened her heart and held on to her anger. There came a point where hurt feelings and resentment overwhelmed the stubborn hero. The drama thickened as his remorse had him giving up, and then things happened that had me wondering if there ever would be a happy ending. In the end I was so glad for sticking with the book, even though it had my breath catching so many times. The HEA was romantic and so worth it for me.
Lord of Regrets was a book that I truly enjoyed. It was well written, fast paced and flowed seamlessly even as it covered quite a chunk of time. It's an excellent read. Definitely one I can recommend.
