Kill or Be Kilt

Highland Spies, #3

I enjoyed the lovely romance and intrigue in this third book in the Highland Spies series. Elizabeth and Ian's story grabbed my attention and wouldn't let go until the last page.

Elizabeth fell in love with Laird Ian Munro the moment she first met him. Unfortunately for her she was only a girl at the time and no one took her seriously. In fact her infatuation kept Ian away for the next three years. In that time she had grown up into a beautiful young lady who was embarrassed by her girlish flirtations and determined to ignore her attraction to Ian.

Ian was usually outspoken except when it came to women. He wasn't immune to Elizabeth's charms now that she'd grown into a desirable woman, but it might be too late since she seems to be contemplating a future in England. He was self concious of his appearance and awkward around her and kept making mistakes in his courtship.

The romance of this plot was entertaining enough but it also had nice mystery that livened it up quite a bit. Elizabeth discovers some secrets about her family and helps to solve some court intrigue.

I adore this series, and as usual, Victoria Roberts has written another well crafted book with brilliant characters who stand out in the mind. I didn't want to put it down. It had romance, mystery and even some light humor. All around, this book was a great read and, since there is one remaining Walsingham sister, then I look forward to reading the next book in the series.

Book Blurb for Kill or Be Kilt

It's been three years since Lady Elizabeth Walsingham ended her childish crush on Laird Ian Munro, the fierce Highlander who scared everyone but her. She's a grown woman now, heading to London to find a proper English gentleman. But when the wild Highland laird walks through the door, she's that breathless youth all over again.

Ian tries hard to avoid the young lass who's confounded him for years. But now that they're attending court, he must keep watch on her night and day. Danger is at every turn and advisors to the Crown are being murdered. Ian soon realizes the girl he's been protecting is a beautiful lady who needs his help, almost as much as he needs her.
