Mary Wine did a great job with this book. How To Handle a Highlander is the sixth book in her Highlander series. It was a good story full of excitement, intrigue and passion. There was never a dull moment, this book kept me entertained and on the edge of my seat. Reading late into the night, I found it very hard to put this one down. From the first page until the last one, I was simply swept up into this wonderful romance.

The book sets up where the last one ended, with the same sneaky Frazer vipers causing trouble for the Sutherland clan. This time the threat of a blood feud is very real, and Gahan vows to do whatever it takes to stop it. Moira Frazer's life has not been an easy one. Growing up an outsider, amidst her devious and slightly insane siblings has only made her stronger. It has made her more understanding and loyal to the people of her clan. She knows the reality of war would only hurt her people, so she makes her own vow to do whatever it takes to prevent the blood feud with the Sutherlands. She swears to do her duty when her unscrupulous brother gives her in marriage to an old man in return for a powerful military alliance. Here is where the story takes an exciting turn. Gahan shows up to investigate and wouldn't you know that the sparks were flying with him and Moira.

I really liked the lead characters and how they were portrayed in this book. Gahan and Moira have a lot in common, they are cut from the same cloth in so many ways. They are both strong and extremely stubborn in their loyalties to their clans. This book varies from most in the genre, the heroine marries, then has a passionate and torrid love affair with our hero. Not something that I usually like, but in this case, with some interesting twists, it worked out splendidly for me as the reader. The plot was filled with riveting suspense, and quite a few twists and turns. I also appreciated how the villains got what was coming to them. That was one thing that I hadn't liked about the last one in the series. So in a nutshell, I got everything that I wanted from this story. It had everything, passion, intrigue, a satisfying resolution and a wonderful ending that I loved.

The meat of this story delves into just much the lovers, Gahan and Moira, will sacrifice for their loyalty to blood and clan. Will they sacrifice their love? Well, you simply have to read this book to find out everything that happens. I promise that you won't be disappointed in some of the surprises this story holds.

How To Handle a Highlander was a great read. I loved the characters, and felt that they were perfect for each other. I was swept away by their passionate romance. I enjoyed every scene, and was sad when the last page was flipped and the story ended. I am so looking forward to more highland romance from this talented author.

I'll be recommending How to Handle a Highlander to everyone. Highland Romance readers are bound to love it.
