The heart of this story is the romance between two people who were destined to save each other. It was a wonderful and passionate story that had me spellbound from the very first page.
I really liked the way this book began. It pulled me in right away. Teagan's search for a cure for her beloved grandmother brings her to the Carpathian mountains and delivers her into the hands of a fiendish killer. She escapes and stumbles upon Andre. She is unaware that he is a centuries old Carpathian vampire hunter. Andre can't stand being alone anymore and had been planning to end it all as soon as he took out the master vampire he's been hunting. Now he realizes that Teagan is his lifemate, the light to balance the darkness inside him. He is determined to protect Teagan from any threat, even if he has to save her from herself.
I liked Teagan. She was strong willed, independent and really funny. I enjoyed the lightheartedness and how she wanted to protect Andre. I absolutely loved Andre. He was sexy and OTT arrogant alpha male, but with a sadness and vulnerability that made me want to hug him. He told Teagan how much he needed her, and didn't hesitate to take charge of the situation even when it put them at odds with each other.
This series has an interesting and original premise that revolves around The Carpathians, an immortal but dying race. They aren't vampires but being fated to live a very long and lonely unemotional existence, many eventually turn to the darkness and become the evil vampire that they hunt. The only thing that can save these honorable males is finding their lifemate .... the one woman destined only for them. Now that is a truly romantic setup for any series, but this one is also brilliantly creative and well written by the mega talented Christine Feehan.
I was so happy with this book. The writing was amazing with a solid plot and an edgy suspense. It was hot with intensely passionate love scenes. It was boldly descriptive, fast paced, and intricately tied together by the end. As if that wasn't enough the story held a stunning climax that gave an interesting glimpse into an intriguing character that I'd love to get their own book. I want Fane to get his lifemate. I want that to happen soon.
DARK GHOST is a page turner ! I enjoyed it immensely. I suggest that anyone who enjoys paranormal romance, vampires, shape shifters and psychic abilities, will probably love it. I highly recommend this book and the entire series for those who haven't tried it yet.
