I absolutely loved this amazing story!
In this story, the saying one big happy family takes on a different meaning for Bram and Anita. Although they were basically raised in the same large blended family these two did not get along at all. They bicker and fight until one night that tension finally boils over and they end up having sex together. Ooh La La. It was so steamy. They told themselves it was a mistake that wouldn't ever happen again but they kept being drawn to each other. Inevitably, their affair deepened into something more than just wild sex. But fate wasn't quite finished throwing obstacles at them. Their relationship continued to be rocky right up until the end as Bram made some selfish but very human mistakes. He burned so many bridges that just having a change of heart wasn't enough. He made it so it was hard to earn Anita's trust again.
I was so captivated by Bram and Anita and their emotional journey. So much happened in this book and it was all beautifully written. I was so captivated from the very first page that it felt like I was a voyeur at times.... especially through the painful heartbreaking scenes. I was glued to my Kindle as I laughed and cried and got mad and my heart broke right along with them. I loved Anita and, surprisingly, I loved Bram too, even when he was being a stubborn idiot. That's my favorite aspect of every Nicole Jacquelyn book. She can create a prime alpha arse-hole and make you fall in love with them. Of course, they will have to make some big mistakes and act like a big jerk but underneath all that posturing will be a genuinely good heart. Her writing is so brilliant that somehow she gives them a real personality that you won't be able to forget. I've read every one of her books and still remember each of the couples and what she put them through before they can find happiness. I am so smitten with Nicole Jacquelyn's writing that she is one of the very few authors that I am eager to revisit her books quite often.
So to sum it all up Change Of Heart is an excellent read and I just know that it is going to be one of my top books this year.
They've spent their lives pushing each other away, but what will happen when they need each other most?
Anita Martin doesn't expect much from life. Growing up on the street, bouncing from one foster home to another, she learned to rely only on herself. Even after she finally found a loving family to take her in, she was still an outsider-something Abraham, one of the family's older sons, never let her forget.
Abraham Evans doesn't know how Ani always manages to get under his skin, only that's she's been doing it since they were teens. She is-and always has been-undeniably gorgeous. But he's never met anyone as pissed off at the world as Ani.
For fifteen years, Ani and Bram have agreed on exactly one thing: they can't stand each other-until one night when their anger gives way to passion. Yet even as Ani and Bram begin to secretly seek comfort in one another's arms, they remain emotionally worlds apart. When Ani's life takes a dramatic turn and she realizes she needs more than Bram can give, their fragile, no-strings relationship unravels. One way or another, Ani is determined to survive. But when Bram finally admits his true feelings, he may discover Ani has moved on without him . . .
