The Breathless Trilogy

Sizzling Hot! It looks like Maya Banks saved the best for last in her Breathless Trilogy. Burn is most definitely my favorite book in the series.

I'm crazy about this trilogy, in love with all three of the hot guys. Maya Banks creates the best alpha heroes ever. During the first two books, and as I went all fan girl over Gabe and Jace, I saw Ash as more of a laid back, easy going kind of guy. A charming rogue, Needless to say that I was surprised at how wrong I'd been. As this story unfolded, I saw a much different side of Ash. Got to say ... I liked what he brought to the game. Loved the many layers and facets of his personality. Loved his intensity and how demanding he actually was. I liked the way Banks changed things up with Ash, though I was surprised by his possessiveness of Josie. You know.... considering those games he liked to play. Hee hee... Most of all, I loved the way he stepped up to protect his woman, and the things he did for her.

The story opened with Ash feeling a little bit lost. His friends are paired with their own women. Jace is no longer sharing his toys, and Ash is feeling like the odd man out. It's put a distance into their once tight friendship. Ash is starting to want something more for himself. As fate would have it, a chance encounter with Josie and he knows that she could be the ONE.

Now, I will say that their relationship got off to a fast start. But it worked for me, because Josie was such a good fit for Ash. Drawn to each other from their first encounter, they were open and honest about what they wanted and expected. Josie was already familiar with the Dom/Sub life style. She found herself intrigued by Ash, and easily gave into his charms. She knew what he wanted, and she readily accepted his demands. I liked the way their relationship developed. They were perfect for each other and their romantic relationship flourished without an overload of melodrama.

The love scenes were fantastic. Ash was a large and in charge Alpha male. The pages sizzled with sexual tension.

I loved getting to catch up with the other couples in the series. Getting to see how they all interacted with each other. Especially the ladies, with the interesting history and all. The common thread that spans this series is the friendship and tight bond between the guys. So it was great to see the women develop their own unique friendship. Like a sisterhood. Girls night out was hilarious and hot at the same time. I giggled as the sister posse got wild and rowdy. Then later on, I sighed with envy as drunken Josie got wild in the bedroom with a sexy Ash. It was also nice that Ash got to tie things up with his nasty family, as they had lurked in the background for a while.

Alas, this book was not without suspense. Things got intense for a time, and events happened that bridged all three books in a way. The author tied things up quite nicely, bringing everything full circle for the readers.

As much as I enjoyed reading this book, it was sad at the same time to know the series is ending. What can I say? It's been a great ride. My thanks, Maya Banks, for the good times, and for giving this happy reader such a sexy and exciting reading experience.

I loved the book. Enjoyed every page. I recommend it to everyone, sharing the love with all my friends. I can't wait to see what's up next!
