Bite Me, Your Grace

Scandals with Bite, #1

I loved this book. The story was completely unique and off the wall.

Ian Ashton, Duke of Burnrath, is the Lord Vampire of London. For centuries, the audacious vampire has been living right under the haughty noses of the ton. Now, thanks to a notorious bit of literature, he is at risk of being discovered.

Anjelica isn't interested in making the proper society match. The independent young miss fancies herself a gothic novelist, and conspires to ruin herself in the critical eyes of society, so she won't have to marry. While some of her antics are hilarious, all she really accomplishes is to capture Ian's interest.

Things get interesting when the intrepid Anjelica breaks into Ian's home to research the strange occurrence at the supposed "haunted house" for one of her novels. Instead she awakens a very hungry Ian and inadvertently learns his secret. Fortunately, Ian's dilemma is solved when the nosy miss is compromised and they are encouraged to marry. They do very well until a series of mistakes occur that endangers them both.

I enjoyed this book immensely. There were a couple of things that set this story apart from the rest of the pack. For one, the hero and heroine caught my attention right from the start. She was fearless and perfect for Ian. And Ian was the perfect alpha hero; dark, dangerous and intense. Then there was the different edge that the writer gave this story. Was it a dark and tortured love story or a humorous one? I'd say it was a bit of both. The real conflict stemmed from a series of misunderstandings. However, it was unrequited love that instigated those misadventures.

Bottom line: I enjoyed it. It was different and jolted me out of a long reading slump. I'd recommend it to paranormal fans who enjoy a lighter read.
