Robyn Carr remains one of my favored authors with "Any Day Now". This is the second book in her Sullivan's Crossing series. The pure storytelling and genuine characters had me hanging on every word.
This story grabbed my attention with the same veracity as when I first read Virgin River. The characters were wonderful. The journey that Sierra and Conrad traveled was heart wrenching at times; with most of the dramatics being on Sierra's struggle. She just wanted to start a new life and reconnect with her big brother Cal. Not only did she end up finding a good man but also a real family in the bargain. I liked that it was a slow to heal process with a couple of shaky moments. I loved Conrad because he never gave up once he made up his mind. He had patience and hung on with tenacity. I loved the beautiful way that Robyn Carr unraveled their story.
I was easily pulled into this heartwarming story as is usually the case with this author. It was just a good romance with genuine characters who weren't perfect all the time. They stumbled and it made them more believable and easy to invest in them. I loved the setting which again reminds me so much of the Virgin River series which still remains one of my go to series whenever I need to unwind with a feel good romance. I strongly suspect that this series will be as well. So for the refreshing storytelling and soul deep characters I am giving "Any Day Now" five well deserved flying stars.
