Another fun and sexy werewolf read from Terry Spear. Spear's Heart of the Wolf series is entertaining and highly addictive.
Cearnach MacNeill is on his way to his best friend’s wedding when he has a run in with a she-wolf who looks very familiar. He knows they've met before, but he can't quite put his finger on where it was. His car is disabled so the arrogant wolf commandeers Elaine to take him to the wedding.
Elaine is a wolf shifter who came to Scotland to hunt for a stolen treasure her pirate uncles had buried there. She can't believe Cearnach blames her for the accident, but she hopes the forgetful wolf doesn't remember how he met her long ago. The wedding crashers get shown to the door at the church, and are stranded at a remote area by some vindictive adversaries.
There was a scorching sexual tension between Cearnach and Elaine. They both tried to deny it for a while. Elaine wanted to stay away from controlling alpha wolves. She'd been down that road before, and no way was she ever going back again. Cearnach never tried to hide his feelings from Elaine, though. He considered mating right from the start, but he could see that she'd been burned and he wanted it to be her choice. Alas, he finally remembers how they met, and who Elaine really is. She comes clean about her past, and they agree to work together to find the treasure. When Elaine's past comes back to haunt them, they will have to fight to stay together.
Spear's eloquent writing style flows with an ease that made it easy to engage in the story right from the start. Her vibrant characters and vivid descriptions pulled me in, making me feel like I was right there in the story. The romance was magical, as Cearnach and Elaine realize that they were meant to be together all those years ago. I felt this was one of the most romantic stories in the entire series. And....yes....I have read them all.
A Highland Werewolf Wedding is every bit as good as I had anticipated, and I enjoyed every minute of it. It was fun to read. There was lots to keep me interested in this story. Who doesn't love an alpha werewolf hero? A wolf in a kilt. Makes it even sexier. But it also had lots of adventure, intrigue, and a mystery to go along with the steamy love story.
This book stands on its own, but I highly recommend the rest of the series as well. After all, who'd want to waste great shifter stories?
I loved this book. A Highland Werewolf Wedding is another shining example of exactly why Terry Spear is the Queen of the shifter romance.
Elaine Hawthorn is a gray American werewolf, currently out of work, and on a mission to share in a family treasure. When she arrives in Scotland, she nearly has a head-on collision with one hot, kilt-garbed Highlander, and runs him off the road.
Werewolf laird Cearnach MacNeill isn't happy Elaine ruined his car, but he quickly becomes her protector after a misunderstanding lands her right in the middle of two feuding clans. Now he's out to ensure that this sexy female wolf gets her fair share of her clan's treasure. He knows he should leave well enough alone, but it's too late to leave his heart out of it.
