Hunger Awakened is an awe-inspiring piece of writing. Dee Carney has done a tremendous job. Her story-line is amazing and her plot is fantastic. Dee's characters are awesome and quite unique. Love this story immensely.
Sabastian Kent, known best at Bast, went out for a drink and some female company. As he approached the bar Bast saw a lady huddled down on the sidewalk along the bar wall. He stopped and looked at her and then went right on by.
After a couple of shots and finding a lady friend Bast headed into the dark hallway towards the back entrance. Before Bast could become engaged with his female friend, Bast doubled over in serious pain and began to vomit. When he did the lady started to scream as it was blood he was expelling.
Alice stood up to go and see what was wrong. Then the lady screamed again and ran away. Alice ran to the back and found Bast curled up in a ball and burning up with fever. Alice offered to call for help but Bast was against it. Alice placed her hand over his forehead and jerked it back as it burned her hand. But once Alice had placed her hand on his forehead Bast began to calm down.
Bast managed to get Alice to help him to his car and then to drive him home. Alice still thought he needed a Doctor. He had thrown up so much blood. Alice convinced Bast to let her stay overnight in case he started to get bad again. As it turned out Alice had to help Bast several times. She also helped him take a cold shower to try and bring down his fever.
Bast couldn't stand it; there felt like something inside of him was trying to get out through his back and fire was running down his arms and legs. As the torture continued Alice was the only person/thing that could calm him and bring his body to cool again.
Bast needed to feed. He explained to Alice what he was and she was very excepting and agreed to let Bast feed from her. When Bast had finished feeding he felt completely normal and healthy. Better than he had in a very long time.
The next evening the Counsel was having their annual gathering. Bast and his crew of protectors for the Vampire Counsel had to come up with a plan as he could not attend without Alice. She was the only one who could calm him down and help to relieve the tremendous pain.
They made their plan and then went to the Counsel function. While there Bast met Jasmine a vampire that he had sired without his knowledge. It was the most freak kind of accident. But he had no idea until he started feeling two heart beats one directly after the other. He was drawn to Jasmine and while talking to her, Jasmine had to pee so Jasmine and Alice went to the ladies room.
While they were gone everyone at the function started screaming and it didn't stop. When the ladies got out to the open room they saw everyone had gathered into a circle as far from Bast as they could. And in the very center was Bast. No one expected what happened to Bast to happen. Alice was shocked and astonished at what she saw.
A most terrific book. I had to leave out so much, or I'd have given something away. Pick up a copy, you won't regret it.
