The Readaholics and the Falcon Fiasco

A Book Club Mystery, #1

They say you never really know people, and that's especially true in a mystery novel. Especially this mystery novel, the first in a series. The Falcon Fiasco is the title in the new The Readaholics series by veteran mystery writer Laura DiSilverio. You can tell the author is a master at writing mystery fiction because she does so very well in this novel. There were cliffhanger endings on most of the chapters, a list of suspects, a variety of motives and real dangers the characters faced. I liked this book because it's a good mystery. Despite the list of suspects, I had no clue who the guilty person was. It could have been any one of them.

The characters in this story were very realistic and some of them were likable. The author really brought her characters to life and they all have a role in this story that seems like just the right fit for them. It was hard to put this book down because I wanted to know what happened next. I wanted to find out who the bad guy was and get to where they solve this mystery. It’s definitely a story that could actually happen in the real world. I thought it was interesting how the characters would try to channel Sam Spade, the detective in the book the group is currently reading, and it was also interesting how they noticed a fictional detective story had its own place in their lives. I also liked how the character Amy-Faye knew her hometown so well and shared interesting pieces of information about it. It did the job in making it more of a “real” place this reader spent time in.

The Readaholics and the Falcon Fiasco is an awesome debut novel in an exciting mystery series that is sure to win over fans of mysteries and whodunit stories. It’s the kind of story that draws the reader in and will leave them wanting more with each chapter ending.
