I've read some of Christy English's other works, and have enjoyed her historical fiction book. Her take on historical romance was as well done, entertaining and intriguing. The characters were interesting and passionate, with a plot that lends itself to Shakespeare's The Taming of the Shrew. Christy English not only creates a novel that is steamy and sexy but also humorous and sweet. There are minor characters that call out for their own books as well.
Caroline Montague is strong-willed, outspoken, and loyal to her family, willing to marry a stranger because it's her duty. Anthony Carrington has agreed to wed the daughter of a friend, to help out the impoverished family, expecting his wife to be demure, ladylike and willing to follow his orders. Due to a scandal in the his family's past, Anthony has issues with trusting women, and Caroline promises to challenge his beliefs. These two will burn hot and furious, but will it be a passion that destroys them both?
Anthony Carrington, Earl of Ravensbrook, returns from war to marry his commanding officer's daughter. A man of fiery passion and strict self-control, Anthony expects a biddable bride who obeys him without question. But Caroline Montague is no simpering miss; she rides a war stallion named Hercules, fights with a blade, and can best most men with both bow and rifle. It's a duel of wit and wills in this charming first book of a new series.
