Eggnog Murder

"Eggnog Murder" by Leslie Meier, Lee Hollis and Barbara Ross is a collection of three holiday-themed murder mysteries featuring deadly eggnog. The first entry is "Eggnog Murder" featuring Lucy Stone at the center of a mystery with Santas galore, a bottle of eggnog and an unintended victim. Author Leslie Meier is still going strong with this holiday themed mystery series. Hayley Powell has to figure out who killed the not-so-friendly librarian in "Death by Eggnog". Fans of Lee Hollis’ books will want to pick up this newest entry. Finally, in Nogged Off Julia Snowden meets the aptly named Imogen Geinkes, who has jinx after jinx happen to her. But when the final jinx is finding her ex-boyfriend’s body, Imogen needs Julia’s help in solving the crime. Barbara Ross definitely has readers eager to figure out this who-done-it.

Regardless of if you’re a long time reader of these authors or just introduced to them, each author does a great job of introducing their characters without bogging down in unnecessary background details. Eggnog serves a vital point in each, but still leaves the reader ready to pick up a cup of yuletide cheer to enjoy over the holidays. I was familiar only with Leslie Meier, but I’m not interested in reading previous books by Hollis and Ross after finishing the Eggnog Murder story collection. All in all, this would be a great stocking stuffer for mystery fans.

Book Blurb for Eggnog Murder

With the fireplace crackling, the tree twinkling, and the carols humming, few things in life are as picture perfect as Christmas in Maine—until murder dampens the holiday spirit. It must be something in the eggnog . . .

When a gift-wrapped bottle of eggnog—allegedly from the Real Beard Santa Club—proves to be a killer concoction for a Tinker’s Cove local, all Lucy Stone wants for Christmas is to find the murdering mixologist who’s stirring up trouble.

Food and cocktails columnist Hayley Powell has never cared much for Bar Harbor’s grouchy town librarian, Agatha Farnsworth. But after the Scroogy senior has a fatal—and suspicious—allergic reaction to supposedly non-dairy eggnog, it’s up to Hayley to ladle out some justice.

Julia Snowden’s tenant Imogen Geinkes seems to be jinxed. First, her poorly named “Killer Eggnog” gives all her co-workers food poisoning at the holiday party, then her boyfriend’s body shows up in Julia’s moving truck as she’s headed back to Busman’s Harbor. Now Julia has to get moving to catch the cold-hearted culprit.

Cozy up with a glass of eggnog and enjoy the spirit of murder and mystery in a Yuletide treat perfect for those winter holidays . . .
