The Guy Next Door

A BFF Novel

Maggie's parents are getting a divorce. And she and her mother have had to move from their big home to a smaller one. This also means that Maggie is no longer the next door neighbor to Ethan Andrews, her crush. This is just the start of her problems. Maggie has to work, unlike most of the Manderley Prep students, in order to afford what she wants. She finds out that her favorite activity, fencing, was cancelled by the new head master. And she's trying to get her dad to pay for new braces so Ethan will notice her and not just remember her as the "girl next door". Then the coach recommends Ethan take fencing to help him out and recommends Maggie as his tutor. Not to mention there's the choir/glee club singing competition in Hawaii coming up too. Will Maggie and Ethan get closer? Will she be able to cope with the ramifications of her parents divorce? And will she be able to go to the competition? Or will money end up being a factor?

The Guy Next Door was an interesting, quick read. Although the title was a bit of a misnomer, I thought there would be more on Ethan in the book. Though I did enjoy Maggie and her development throughout the story. There were a few interesting twists and turns of events in the story revolving around the school. I hope there is more so readers can see what happens next with Manderley Prep. This is shaping up to be a very good series for young adults..
