The Closer You Get by LA Witt is one of those books that I couldn't put down once I started reading it. I absolutely loved the characters and the quick-witted, fast paced storyline. It is the sequel to the book, The Distance Between Us, and in my opinion better than its predecessor.
Kieran Frost is a happily self-described player or `manwhore'. He loves playing the field and has no intention of ever settling down with one person, and he's been able to have the occasional threesome with a two of his happily partnered friends which to Kieran is just icing on his MANY lovers layered cake. One night, when Kieran has plans to be sexually sandwiched between his partnered friends, he's surprised when his friend's daughter pulls him aside and asks Kieran for a favor. Apparently, she has a friend that's just come out of the closet and is totally na‹ve and innocent when it comes to the ways of love. She manages to coax Kieran into agreeing to help her guide her friend, Alex, into the dating scene.
But once Kieran meets the sweet and handsome Alex, he's confused by the way he instantly drawn to the man. Normally, Kieran wouldn't touch someone as inexperienced like Alex, but there is something about him that Kieran finds he can't resist. But, as Kieran guides Alex into the world of sexual pleasure, will he be able to emotionally resist Alex's charms?
I LOVED THIS BOOK! I simply adored Kieran and his `take me as I am' attitude. I though he was a very interesting and complex character that I immediately liked and I really enjoyed watching his character develop throughout the novel. There were many layers to Kieran and I thought he and Alex were extremely well matched. The Closer You Get is well paced and smoothly written. It's so easy to get wrapped up in these characters and the interesting life that they lead.
This book was sexy and sweet and everything I love when I read a homoerotic romance. It has a firm place on my keeper shelf where I know I'll be rereading it again many times in the future. Although it is the sequel to The Distance Between Us, this book is so well written, it could easily be read as a stand-alone book. But, to truly understand Kieran's partnered friends and the dynamics between all of them; it would be good to read these books in series order.
LA Witt has a very interesting website. Here is the link to check it out: http://www.loriawitt.com/
The virgin isn’t the only one with something to lose...
Self-described manwhore Kieran Frost is loving the single life. Two years after moving to Seattle, he still has his friends with benefits, Rhett and Ethan, plus a never-ending supply of gorgeous, available men wandering through the bar where he works. A relationship? Spare him the drama and heartbreak. He’s got no complaints about his unattached lifestyle.
When Rhett’s daughter introduces him to newly-out-of-the-closet Alex Corbin, Kieran’s interest perks up. After all, the quiet ones are always the freaks in bed. But Alex isn’t just shy and reserved. He’s a virgin in every sense of the word, having never even kissed anyone else.
Kieran is no one’s teacher, and his first instinct is to run like hell in the other direction. But his conscience won’t let him throw the naïve kid to the wolves for someone else to take advantage of. The plan is to introduce Alex to his own sexuality, pull him out of his shell, then go their separate ways.
It’s the perfect, foolproof plan…assuming no one falls in love.
Warning: This sequel to The Distance Between Us contains a curious virgin, a shameless slut, a trip to a sex shop, and one stubborn heart. Oh, and a dildo.
