Pestilence

The Four Horsemen, #1

Pestilence by TA Chase is a fun and dramatic rollercoaster ride from start to finish. It's the first book in The Four Horseman series and it starts the series with a bang and left this reader highly anticipating the next story in the series.

Through a series of bad luck and a terrible loss, a man makes a fateful bad decision that changes the course of his life forever. Because of his unforgiveable sin, he is now known as Pestilence, one of the four horsemen of the Apocalypse. Because he must keep a balance between good and evil, he is instructed to give plagues and diseases through all of man-kind. As the years progress, Pestilence continues to grow disenchanted by the role he must play. He causes and is surrounded by death and destruction and it plaguing on his immortal soul. In the times that he's not needed, Pestilence's only reprieve is his small hut in the middle of the Amazon; alone and away from humans.

Bart Winston knew he made a mistake when he followed his boyfriend to the Amazon. When he becomes deathly sick, he's abandoned and finds himself wandering through the Amazon alone and scared. When he comes across a uniquely gorgeous tall man, Bart's pretty sure that this amazing looking man is surely an angel from heaven. But, when Pestilence takes him to his hut and nurses him back to health, Bart becomes enthralled by his mysterious savior and is determined to fight for Pestilence to be by his side.forever.

I LOVED this book. The story moves smoothly and it quickly captured my attention. I thought the pacing and the relationship between Pestilence and Bart was truly a beautiful thing to watch develop from hesitant strangers to a once in a lifetime love that makes them truly cherish one another in the end. Both Pestilence and Bart do a lot of character growth throughout the book, and the world building that Ms. Chase created within the storyline was not only a well-developed one, it was extremely captivating to this reader too.

Pestilence is one of my favorite books that TA Chase has written and has earned a permanent spot on my keeper shelf. I'm highly looking forward to reading the next book in the series and I'm anxious to read more about the amazing characters she's created.
