Italian Weddings and Funerals

I had a feeling before I started reading Italian Weddings and Funerals by AJ Llewellyn that I was going to be in for a treat. I've read a couple of his books so far, and I've really enjoyed every minute of them. Mr. Llewellyn has an amazing ability to bring this reader fully invested into all of the wonderful romances that he creates. I know that when I pick up one of his books, he'll lead me and other thankful readers' through an often time emotional and heartfelt journey that is always highly enjoyable.

Luca Dell'Oro is a highly successful event planner. Since he caters and plans every type of event, from weddings to funerals, he has a reputation for being fair to his employees and best in the business. But, Luca has a secret that he hides from everyone.he's a vampire. Despite popular belief, vampires can eat, enjoy the sunlight and blend in well with the human race. Even though Luca has had a fruitful life, he's had an array of unsuccessful romances and is often haunted by the loss of his lover to a woman several hundred years ago in Italy.

When Luca is offered a job to cater a funeral of a famous female opera singer in Italy, he's stunned when he realizes that the woman is the wife of his long lost love, Francesco all those years ago. They did not part on good terms, and when he had left his lover, he was still a human. This worries and confuses Luca, but even though he's wary of the reasoning why he's been chosen to cater this; curiosity and the haunting memories of his lost love makes him determined to take some of his employees' and go to Italy and possibly get some closure for himself. Once he sees the handsome Francesco, all the old feelings return, but will Francesco feel the same.or does he have another hidden and more dangerous agenda?

I really liked this book! I thought both Luca and Francesco were both uniquely sexy and well written characters. I honestly didn't know if I would warm up to Francesco because of the sad and bittersweet past he and Luca shared, but I did. Both characters have depth and their own valid reasons why they made the decisions they did in the past, and I was very pleased to see how determined Francesco was to have Luca in his life again. I even liked the secondary characters and some of the laugh out loud moments they gave me throughout the book. All of them were very interesting and I could help but grin at the loveable, but dysfunctional friendship/family that had all developed between them.

My only gripe about this book is I wish there had been more scenes with Luca and Francesco. I would have really loved to have read more of them, and really learned more about Francesco. I adored him, and I thought he and Luca were definitely good together. I really would have enjoyed seeing how Luca and Francesco develop their new life together and how things turn out.

Italian Weddings and Funerals was a fast paced and sexy read that I thoroughly enjoyed and I'm looking forward to reading more of Mr. Llewellyn's books in the future.
