All Bets are Off by Marguerite Labbe is an intensely sexy book from start to finish. This is one of the first books I’ve read by this author, and it definitely won’t be my last. I enjoyed the descriptive and easy-style storytelling ability that Ms. Labbe has and once I started reading All Bets are Off, I didn’t stop until I completely finished it.
Eli Hollister has just returned from a hiking trip. He’s laid back, loves nature and pretty much an all-around easy going guy. He works as a professor at a local college and because he’s not your stereotypical professor, he’s had a tough time earning the respect of some of his peers and has had to work hard to achieve what he has. The moment he spots a sexy man roofing his favorite watering hole, he’s instantly smitten by the muscular attractive man. Later, when he runs into the man again, he’s thrilled when the man is also drawn to him as well.
Ash Gallagher is ready for a change. As a former military man he’s been looking forward to living an easier life and making choices for himself. Once he meets Eli Hollister, he’s instantly attracted to him and wants to see more of him. But, once both men realize that Ash is enrolled in Eli’s class, the trouble starts and both men are forced to make some hard decisions and sacrifices if they want to take their relationship to the next level.
I loved this book! Both heroes are extremely likeable men. Even though the sexual chemistry between them are sizzling hot, they also have a mutual like and respect for each other that I really appreciated as a reader. I enjoyed the slow, sexy buildup between them and also watching their relationship evolve into something truly special. There is true camaraderie between these two men, and I loved the banter they had between them.
It only takes one night with Ash Gallagher to make Eli Hollister think he's finally met the right man at the right time. Good thing he doesn't bet on it, because Ash turns out to be a student in Eli's class at the local college. Eli can't deny he's attracted, but now it's complicated. He's already in enough trouble with the department head, a man who would like to see Eli denied his tenure and fired.
Ash is looking forward to taking his life in a new direction. After serving one active-duty stint in the Marine Corps and another in the Reserves, he's ready to put his military life behind him. The last new experience he'd planned for this semester was to fall in lust with his English professor, but the more Eli resists, the more Ash is determined to have him. Then he discovers Eli's playing for keeps, and Ash is only interested in a fling... or is he? Between these two, when it comes to life and love, all bets are off.
