Have you read the Divergent series by Veronica Roth and puzzled over the building and interpretation of Tris's world? The Divergent Companion; The Unauthorized Guide to the Series is filled with an indepth look at the comparisons between our world today and the Divergent series world. The text explores the factions and factionless, provokes the questions of where are the minorities and the handicapped in this world, and dives further into the genetics of the people. Written as an essay of explination for the bare bones of the world Roth created, this books will draw out the Erudite in all of us.
Upon receiving this book, i hastily went back and reread Divergent, Insurgent and finally got the nerve to read Allegiant. (I wont add my opinions of these here) I thought that I needed to first hand know the series all the way in order to really read the companion book. I found that is not true. Whether you have read the Divergent series once or ten times. or even if you just saw the movie and want to know more, then this book is perfect for you. I will say that there are a few Allegiant spoilers lurking, but they are easy enough to foresee coming. The Divergent Companion really deals more about the cold hard facts of the series rather than the storyline and characters. I was happy to see mini excerpts about some of the main characters, which were popped in as a read it now or later bubble. Also there are a few quizzes and questionnaires including an aptitude test for you to take to see which faction you belong in. I got Amity, which i had figured anyway. If you are at all interested in the inner workings of the Divergent series, or are just curious about a more in depth scientific look at what was happening then run pick up this book! I learned a few things from it that I didn't realize when reading the trilogy.
