To start, I have heard a lot of mixed reviews about this story. I ignored them all and blazed my own trail through Tessa and Hardin's story. And blaze I did. Told in Tessa's point of view, the story follows her as she leaves a very sheltered life with her mother and finds out the new freedom that college life gives. Tessa plans out her days and is ready to become fully enveloped in college when she meets the rude and sarcastic Hardin. From the first moment he berates her and makes fun of how she dresses. But something about him awakens a flame. At first it is a fire that she throws back at him, meeting his insults with criticism. But as she keeps bumping into him, Tessa realizes that Hardin may not be a complete jerk.
There is so much negative surrounding this book stating that it's about a member of a band, or that it is a cheap rip off of twilight or fifty shades. This book definitely did not fit the category that the critics are pushing it under. It's a great coming of age story about a girl who is sheltered and a boy who is mean. It's more like real love, there are good moments and real fights. Yelling, fussing and learning how to compromise to fit each other. There is verbal abuse in the story but it isn't terrible, I would categorize it as couples learning how to fight with each other. I recommend this book to anyone who loves the new adult genre and is looking for a good story to sink their teeth into. I will say, this story ends with a huge shock. I loved every second of reading it!

There was the time before Tessa met Hardin, and then there’s everything AFTER... Life will never be the same. #Hessa
Tessa is a good girl with a sweet, reliable boyfriend back home. She’s got direction, ambition, and a mother who’s intent on keeping her that way.
But she’s barely moved into her freshman dorm when she runs into Hardin. With his tousled brown hair, cocky British accent, tattoos, and lip ring, Hardin is cute and different from what she’s used to.
But he’s also rude—to the point of cruelty, even. For all his attitude, Tessa should hate Hardin. And she does—until she finds herself alone with him in his room. Something about his dark mood grabs her, and when they kiss it ignites within her a passion she’s never known before.
He’ll call her beautiful, then insist he isn’t the one for her and disappear again and again. Despite the reckless way he treats her, Tessa is compelled to dig deeper and find the real Hardin beneath all his lies. He pushes her away again and again, yet every time she pushes back, he only pulls her in deeper.
Tessa already has the perfect boyfriend. So why is she trying so hard to overcome her own hurt pride and Hardin’s prejudice about nice girls like her?
Unless…could this be love?
*Includes an abusive relationship. Emotionally gripping story.
