The Magi

I have to say that I really enjoyed this book. I have been on the lookout for the next Harry Potter and while I realize that nothing will ever be the same this book sure does come close.

The story was very fast paced and the author did a wonderful job creating and explaining this whole new world. I sometimes have a hard time understanding new worlds and usually if they are explained there is a rush of information and still it doesn’t make sense. This author used so many different ways to explain everything and it all came out flawlessly. I give him major credit because his world is definitely not easy to grasp, but he told it in such a way that I think anybody could understand it. I really appreciated that especially considering how fast paced this book moved.

The characters were really amazing. Elijah was a wonderful main character. He held up his end of the story and he proved to be a strong hero with a lot to offer. I cannot wait to see where he ends up next. His friends Paul, Isaac, Becca, Adam, and Hannah all were really well written. They each brought something different to the story and at first I was a little leery not knowing who I could trust but as time went on I realized that his friends were here to stay. I loved his Uncle Stan. I really hope that we get to see more of him and Master Roddick in the next installment. Olivia was our resident Dumbledore and she proves to be just as entertaining and awesome. I felt connected to each and every character.

I really cannot wait to read the next installment as I truly believe the author has an amazing idea. It is somewhat reminiscent of Harry Potter, but there are enough differences for it to stand on its own and shine.

Book Blurb for The Magi

Thirteen-year-old Elijah Hawk has never heard of the Magi. He knows nothing about their three thousand-year-old secret. He has never been to Savenridge, the Magi city hidden deep inside the northern woods. Most of all, Elijah is unaware of the dangers hunting him.

After one terrifying night, however, all of that changes!

On a quest to solve the horrific murder of his parents, Elijah stumbles upon the land of the Magi. Learning their ancient secrets and training with their power is the least of his problems. In order to find out why his parents were killed, Elijah learns that he must confront the dangers that are hunting him, even though it means almost certain death. What's more terrifying is discovering that his journey to this new world may not have been an accident after all.
