World War Z

The Art of the Film

Alright this one I looked at as soon as I got it! Then my daughter looked at it, then the husband, my mom, lol even the two year old wanted a peek! When I ordered this I didn’t really take the time to see what it really was. I thought it was just a normal companion book to the movie World War Z. However, it isn't! This is full of production shots, drawings, and the ENTIRE SCREENPLAY!! I think they should have stuck with the normal movie companion. Not that this book isn’t neat per say. If you have seen the movie or even if you haven't, I don’t see why anyone would want to have a copy of the screenplay?! It’s a bit much, maybe a small minority of film industry followers would like a peek.

Now saying that I did love some of the new information that was given in this book. Again I’m wishing it was a normal companion, so I could have known more about the process of the Z's. That would have been amazing! But anyway here are some wonderful tidbits from the book!

Pg. 142 "The longer the disease has been in the host the more emaciated the host becomes."- Andrew R. Jones, Animation Consultant

Now that was kind of neat! A few pages back it shows how the Z's go from first being infected to a period of 6 months. In that time frame the body begins to deteriorate and the skin sucks onto the bone.

Other areas of this book that I would have really loved to know more about are the following.

1. The Green Screen filming

2. The infection itself

3. The locations

4. Mishaps and Mistakes made

5. Any other cool info.

So with this all being said. If you would love having a copy of the screenplay laying around, by all means go out and snag this one! But, if screenplays just are not your thing? Then skip this one for something else!

"*I received a copy of this book for free to review, this in no way influenced my review, all opinions are 100% honest and my own."
