The Way Back Home

This is a riveting and captivating emotional tale by Barbara Freethy. She tells the story of Alicia Hayden. Alicia is a single mother who is trying to keep her family business a float admits inner turmoil and deep personal loss. She has lost her twin brother in Iraq and cannot bring herself to forgive his best friend, the man who promised to protect him and bring him home safely. He is also the man Alicia has been deeply attracted to since their first meeting. With one steamy night between them and a history in between, Alicia and Gabe are forced to learn how to deal with each other while trying to keep the family business afloat.

If you consider Alicia and Gabe's attraction to each other, Gabe's promise to Alicia's dying brother and Alicia's reaction to her near drowning, it's safe to say there is a lot going on in this book. Add the family business, a son and a boyfriend to the mix and you can see why Alicia has an interesting in an un-boring life that supplies plenty of entertainment for the reader. In a story of love and loss, comes healing and forgiveness with a whole lot of heat and attraction to spice it up. I really enjoyed this novel and I'm certain romance fans will to! It might hit a little too close to home for those who've lost a loved one to war, but overall it is a great read.
