"The Silence of the Flans" is the second book in the Emergency Dessert Squad Mystery series. It’s about Winnie, a baker who must solve a murder before her business goes under.
I didn’t read the first book in the series, but I did thoroughly enjoy the second. It’s a very delightful read that wasn’t predictable at all. There was lots of twists and turns to keep the reader on their toes, which made the book very exciting.
The characters were all wonderful and lovely. I liked how everyone interacted with one another. It made them all come alive on the pages and feel realistic. The author’s writing style was very simple yet detailed. Everything flowed well, and the pacing was perfect.
Overall, I really enjoyed this book. The idea wasn’t original—there are tons of cozies centered around desserts and murder—but nonetheless, it’s still a great read with wonderfully realistic characters that will have you laughing out loud. I will gladly pick up the next book in the series.
