Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter, #26

The Anita Blake series has always been one of my favorites. Watching Anita grow throughout the years has been a wonderful ride. I love all her people and she does a great job making time for all the people in her life. It’s hard at times but she works it out.

In this one she deals with a little jealousy, frustration and anger from her three main guys, Jean-Claude, Micah and Nathaniel when they feel that they aren’t getting enough one on one time with her and that her job is more important than them.

You get a few surprises involving Ted, Peter and their family. As well as some new characters that will change things and make them more interesting. We also get a return of some old characters as well. I love the fact that Anita makes time for her guys but I’m a little frustrated that we don’t get to see her relationships with her girls as well. They are mentioned very briefly but no emotional scenes with them or even sex. It’s like they drifted off into the background. I know Anita isn’t fully about girls like guys but these are her people too. I would love to see her spending more time with them. Even if it's just having a conversation with them in the kitchen or cuddling on the couch.

I enjoyed reading "Serpentine". The creature they have to deal with is interesting and will give them a run for their money.
