This was a really sweet read and I enjoyed it. Here you have a single dad who's doing all he can to look after his 4 kids with the grudging help of his brother's. Then you have shy, observant and very smart Camille who is shocked that Steve-freaking-Springfield even noticed, let alone talked to her. Their reintroduction years later after high school was somewhat comical. It could have ended very badly if Steve had not stepped in and took the attention off of Camille.
I fell in love with both characters, they just want to live their lives and are doing the best they can with what they have. When things take a dangerous turn I was really glad that Steve and his kids were around for support. Camille was stronger than me, if I had been in her situation I would have been crushed and wallowed in my misery.
Each of Steve's kids were very fascinating and they all made me laugh, shake my head and want to give them a very big hug. Zoe, Will, Micah and Maya are their own little person and have their own personalities.
I loved reading this book and highly recommend it. I hope to hear Joe’s story soon. I would love to see things from his perspective.
