Before the Storm

Rarity Cove Book One

Sam is an interesting character who has been through a lot. Forced into a life she never wanted she finds the courage to say enough is enough and gets out. But just because she got out doesn’t mean that danger will not follow her. When I first read this book it reminded me of the beginning of the movie Safehaven, different storyline but both characters were running from a dangerous path, looking for something new and found it possible to love and have a normal relationship. Sam is naturally leery of men wanting to help her just because they are nice, in her world you don’t do something for nothing. It took Mark a long time to gain her trust and to convince her that he wasn't going to force her to do anything she didn't want to do.

As Sam learns to trust and gains friendships her past comes back and destroys the peace she found. She’ll have to decide if she’s willing to fight for her freedom and those she loves or give up and accept that maybe this is the life she was supposed to have.

This is a great thriller and the author had me on the edge of my seat through the whole book. Sam is stronger than she realizes and Mark being there for her makes her a little bit stronger.

There are some scenes that involve rape and violence, so if that’s a trigger then this is not the book for you.
