Love Between The Lines

The intrepid female reporter, Lizzy Drury aka Trudy Tildon, is the star of this Gilded Age/Victorian era romance with more than a hint of mystery and adventure. From the first scene, it's clear that Lizzy will do anything for a story. Her courage and spirit are admirable, and her struggle to receive the same respect as her male journalist counterparts is easy to relate to. Her move from fast-paced 1880s New York to London, where she must learn to fit in with upper crust society present interesting challenges that carried the plot forward, and Lizzy always responds to every challenge with mettle. She is such a likable character that it's almost difficult to accept that the hero deserves her, especially as he's betrothed to someone else. Though, of course, this adds another tantalizing layer of conflict to their relationship.

The fast pace and clever dialogue of the main characters kept me turning pages long into the night, and final climax of the story was truly riveting. I enjoyed spending time with Lizzy and almost wish she was the subject of a whole series.

When New York lady reporter Lizzy Drury is offered the opportunity and a good deal of money to move to London and write for famous publisher Gideon Langham, she finds it hard to resist—both Gideon's offer and the man himself. Thrown into a world of unfamiliar expectations and with a murder mystery to solve, Lizzy must learn to rely on Gideon and trust her heart.
