Ashley was a working woman when she met Devon. Sitting with his grandmother at a party she was catering, Devon went after her like she was a threat, but Ashley slapped him right back. It was love at first sight, and before she knew it she was married to a rich man, living in his family home, and fighting off his relatives who viewed her as trash. Her only ally was his grandmother, but now she’s gone and Ashley finds herself in the lawyer’s office, being handed a second chance with her soon to be ex. Should she take it?
Devon loved his wife. He still does. In fact, he’s a little unsure what happened to their marriage. They married quickly yes, and Ashley lost the baby they were expecting, but they still loved one another. Why did Ashley leave?
Money obviously doesn’t buy brains. While this story is mostly from Ashley’s point of view, I would have appreciated a little more from Devon. He just seemed to "be" and not an active participant in his marriage. He abandoned Ashley to his family, utterly clueless of their treatment to her, and was absent during her miscarriage. I had little use for him. The reconciliation was emotional, and the true meaning behind his grandmother’s behest to Ashley added a twist or two. I was left hoping for a happy future for them, and it looked like Devon was changing his ways by the dramatic way the story ended.
